2024 SPE Thermoplastic Elastomer Technical Interest Group Scholarship Report

Technical Focus

The objectives of the Thermoplastic Elastomers TIG are to promote the technology and applications of thermoplastic elastomers in conferences, workshops, a newsletter and industry contacts facilitated through a focused group effort within SPE. These activities are designed to provide a forum for the better understanding of thermoplastic elastomers through the exchange of ideas and information.

Engineering technology related to thermoplastic elastomers including fabrication processing, structure property relationships and performance in end-use applications will be emphasized. All classes of materials falling within the common definitions of thermoplastic elastomers are pertinent. However, chemical technology dealing primarily with the preparation and compositional analysis of these materials, as well as non-performance applications such as in paints, inks, and adhesives are of lesser interest.
